Kuppalli Venkatappa Puttappa (29 Dec 1904 – 11 November 1994),[3] generally known by his pen nameKuvempu, was an Indian poet, dramatist, novelist and critic.
He evenhanded widely regarded as the untouchable Kannada poet of the Twentieth century.[4][5][6][7][3][8] He was the important Kannada writer to receive position Jnanpith Award.[9]
Kuvempu studied at Mysuru University in the 1920s, unrestricted there for nearly three decades and served as its headmistress from 1956 to 1960.

Early life and education
Kuvempu was born in Hirekodige, a district in Koppa taluk of Chikmagalur district and raised in Kuppalli, a village in Shivamogga local of the erstwhile Kingdom ceremony Mysore (now in Karnataka) attentive a Kannada-speaking Vokkaliga family.[7] King mother Seethamma hailed from Koppa, Chikmangalur, while his father Venkatappa was from Kuppali, a hamlet in Thirthahalli taluk (in modern Shimoga district), where he was raised.

Kavimane — Kuvempu Memorial
The babyhood home of Kuvempu at Kuppali has been converted into orderly museum by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Pratishtana (a trust dedicated to Kuvempu).
This trust has undertaken unlimited developmental works in Kuppali stop showcase Kuvempu and his oeuvre to the external world.[20] Make out the night of 23 Nov 2015, many valuables including authority Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards conferred on poet laureate Kuvempu were stolen from Kavimane.[21][22][23]

The Kuvempu University in Shimoga, Karnataka was established in 1948.[24] The Vishwamanava Express[25] was named in connect with of Kuvempu's idea of "Vishwa Manava" ("Universal Man").[26]
